Hyundai Veloster N has won the highly selective and prestigious Road & Track Performance Car of the Year honor for 2020. The car competed with more expensive and luxurious brands as McLaren 600LT Spider, Lamborghini Huracan Evo, Porsche 911 Carrera S, etc.

Does this car deserve such an award and can cause delight from the management? It is difficult to answer if you aren’t sitting behind the wheel of this vehicle.

One of the attractive aspects, that attract award, was the price of the car to its performance.  The company offers two types of configuration, standard-250hp, MPG 22/29/25-from $27,400 and extended configuration-275hp, MPG G 22/29/25, MSRP + - $29,500.

Performance

As known, the Hyundai Veloster N get its award for performance, so what impressed panel of judges in vehicle’s powertrain? The Hyundai supplied the first model in the new line of high-performance cars with 2.0-liters Inline 4-cylinder Turbochardes GDI engine.  The engine’s equipment base is divided n 3 types: normal (power and efficiency), Sport (throttle response) and Sport+ (the fastest (throttle response & power output).

Accordingly, depending on these types, other performance indicators are improved. For example, rev-matching, e-LSD, exhaust sound, e-LSD, ECS, suspension and steering. Besides, the suspension and chassis with electronic control were developed by engineers from scratch and especially for this model.

In the standard fitting, the motor's output is 250 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque, it is transmitted to the front wheels via 6-speed manual transmission. The suspension, which can change its stiffness, and the electric steering system, which changes its weight depending on the selected driving mode – are implemented to all new models in the line.
The motor reaches its 60 mph at 5,4 seconds, while its top power demonstrates 6000 rpm. Nevertheless, the exhaust sound realizes pleasant and deep noise with energizing pops and crackles on Sports+.
The maximum impact is fully felt thanks to the manual transmission with automatic rev-matching and smoother downshifts for better-balanced dynamics of the car.
